Ye Olde Theme Park

So yesterday we went to the morning-after brunch. We spent a second night in W’burg then today headed back to West Virginia, where my mom lives.

I took a few early morning photos of Colonial Williamsburg after a run.

It was decked out for Christmas.

And chilly.

When I was a kid I thought the candlestick makers and bookbinders and all the old houses were part of the original Williamsburg colony--sent forth by William of Orange (controversial figure here in Ireland) and his queen to generate revenues for the crown. What I now understand is many of the buildings are reproductions recreated by the Rockefeller Foundation. The funniest part was seeing the guys in the pooper scoopers hoovering up horse poo from yesterday's carriage rides.
