Rejection

I got two today. One kind and one perfunctory. The kind one is from an NGO working on climate change transparency, the perfunctory one was from a firm that uses freelancers to meet quarter-end writing needs of financial companies. Here’s the kind one (written by someone I met at a conference, so it was a bit more personal than usual):

"Thank you for your application and follow up. We have shortlisted a small number of candidates for an interview, and we unfortunately couldn’t bring you in. We had a large number of applicants, with a diverse range of skills, so we have had to be quite strict with our decision process. I was intending to get an email out to all the unsuccessful candidates this week, so you beat me to it.

It is clear you have a great grasp of this space, and are very driven to work in it, so I am quite confidant you will find something soon. For this position, we are looking for someone quite junior to take on a range of entry level responsibilities. You communicated to me last time that you are willing to start at these lower positions, however based on your other quite extensive experience, we think you would be more suited to a higher level position, to leverage this experience from a different angle.

Apologies this did not work out for you, however I do suggest you keep an eye open on the CDP job page, as we regularly have jobs opening up, and something more suited to your skill set and experience may likely open up."
