Mournes, p4

At the top of Slieve Donard, we met a man who had just completed the six peaks challenge. He kindly posed for a photo to mark the occasion.

Once we headed back down, the hike got more challenging. Thunder, lightning, rain, and hail were our companions all the way down to the tree line. The Mournes are notorious for moody weather. Once we were back in the woods and rhododendron groves, the sun was back out.

Maysie and I were drenched at the end. David and I got to enjoy a hot chocolate and pastry in Newcastle while poor Maysie got to sleep in the car.
