East meets west
The main road up to the Queen's campus splits, with Stranmillis going to the east and Malone to the west. One of the things I love about Belfast is that it is surrounded by hills. If I look west from Malone, I can see the West Belfast mountain and if I look east from Stanmillis (two blocks away), I can see the Hollywood hills.

If you take a closer look at the West Belfast mountain, you may be able to make out "Yes, Yes, Catalonia" on the hillside. This is IRA territory and there's a revolving series of signs promoting freedom for Ireland, Palestine, Catalonia, whoever. When the G8 leaders were in Northern Ireland, it read: "War Criminals." At one time it said "No Bush." The messages drive the Protestant community nuts.
