Cruella
The funny thing about this blog I never write in is I'm paying for the privilege. Silly me.
As I've written before, I'm breaking the cycle of Saturdays=chores and Sundays=golf, plus taking Paddy out for stick triathlons: fetch stick from river, fetch stick from high grass meadows, fetch stick from bottom of steep bank (I'm on the top of said steep bank). It takes a lot to tire a springer.
This particular Saturday, I went to see Cruella. Costume designer Jenny Beaven outdid herself. Previous credits: Mad Max, A Room With a View, Gosford Park, The King's Speech. It's always a treat to watch the two Emmas (Thompson and Stone) but the costumes were the star of the film. My one complaint is Emma S's costumes were the most brilliant, yet were on screen only momentarily b/c the plot was about her ambushing Emma T's fashion events. I needed slo mo or instant replay like in football.
After the film, I went to Wagamama's for a brilliant lunch. They do very good veggie food. Then to Rockmount Golf Club, where I'd recently been for a golf lesson with Geoff. They have a very good pro shop and, despite the horror at being trapped in a small changing room with a mirror and my pandemic-enlarged self, I picked a pair of trousers for winter golf.
Next, Dobbie's, a massive garden centre, where I did more damage than at the pro shop, pound-wise (as in currency). I bought these verticle gardens--planters that hang beneath each other. The plan is to hang them on a fence in the back garden and grow lettuce and herbs. I also bought a hydrangea, three lavendars, a cake for a friend with whom I dined this evening, and three window sill planters.
Dinner at the friend's, where I drank too much and stayed past 1 a.m., undermining my Sunday (I'm usually in bed by 10pm and awakenedy by 6 a.m. by my buddy). But it's always good craic to have a chat with an interesting person--who is also a good cook!!
Just looked at my downloads and here is the most recent photo. I walk on Saturday mornings with a group of neighbours and their dogs, after which we have tea and buns. Here I am with Claire and Louise. It was Claire's birthday, so special treats, which Claire appears to be shoving into Louise's gob. LOL It's a very social way to start the weekends.
