A couple, a cathedral, a castle

David's co-worker Conor got married today to Orlaith (pronounced Orla). The wedding was at St. Macartan's Cathedral in Monaghan. My photography skills weren't up to the challenge, so the photos below are from the internet.

From the outside:

From the altar looking back;

From the back looking front (sorry for the superimposed URL).

The reception was at Castle Leslie. If you click on the link, scroll way down to see some of the rooms.

There are 22 bedrooms. Capt. Jack Leslie, the 98-year-old proprietor, and his neice each have one room. The rest are available to paying guests. Capt. Jack visited the wedding party during the reception. The happy couple cut the cake using his regimental sword.

I walked around the castle dragging my jaw along behind me. The ground floor is one art-filled room after another--several drawing rooms, a dining room that looks like it could hold a bowling alley, a library, conservatory, it just went on and on. My favorite room had hand-painted wall paper covered in exotic birds.

The dinner was in a tent. Here's us. Today's events make me feel a bit better about posting a photo of me in a sweater yesterday. That would be a recent blog low point. Today was definitely a pleasant break from the library.
