Women’s Equality Party

Yesterday I went to the only Imagine festival event I’ll get to this year. It was about the Women’s Equality Party, which was co-founded by author and journalist Catherine Mayer and broadcaster and author Sandi Toksvig.

Mayer, who was the speaker yesterday, has written a book titled The Attack of the 50 Foot Woman. The idea is that mainstream parties are ignoring issues women care about. The WEP wants to have enough electoral success to be able to project an amplified level of influence, a la UKIP. UKIP has very few elected representatives yet the Conservatives have caved to their demands, for example voting on leaving the European Union. More power to them.
