Winter golf
Friday night was the Winter League dinner. I'm not sure how our team did overall – Patricia's team won with a very strong group of players. My contribution to the evening was 120 golf balls I picked up on the course in recent years. People can buy them for a small donation to Lady Captain's charity, the British Heart Foundation.
Saturday evening I saw Holdovers with Ali. It was about three misfits who help each other along on life's tumultuous journey. Very good film. Sunday morning out with Marek for a walk up Cregagh Glen. In the afternoon was the first Winter Mixed match since October – the course was closed too much in Nov & Dec to hold the matches. Jonny and I came second this time with 24 points (winning team had 25). It was very windy, hence the rosy cheeks.
Only other thing to remark on is I've been editing one of the PRI Academy courses. I'm not happy with the quality of the content and have been trying to get someone from the content team (our subject matter experts) to back me up. I don't want to be responsible for this content because it is of such poor quality. I had a meeting with various superiors and was told to do a light edit – the full course
(which is already on the market) will be overhauled in due time. I'm sorry to hear we are OK having this content in circulation, but also relieved that I won't be held to account for the content, which was created by freelancers and does not reflect PRI positioning on materiality and other basic investment concepts.
This project has renewed my interest in having an end date for work. I've been trying unsuccessfully to get an appointment with an accountant who can advise me on what my various pension pots will be worth once taxes are deducted (given the US-UK tax treaty). Way beyond my pay grade.
