Beagle’s birthday

Today began with the Muckish hike then in Dunfanaghy I ran into an old school mate, Richard Bigger, whose nickname was always Beagle. I don’t know why. Turns out tomorrow is his and his twin brother Donald's birthday. I was invited to a brief dinner party in their honour, with their sister Siobhan, Donald’s girlfriend and Donald’s daughter. Also Siobhan’s daughters and her husband. It was a fun gathering, a bit odd dropping in on someone else’s family event. At the same time, I was friends with their mom, whose ashes are spread on Muckish, so I was talking to her during the hike. If they wanted to adopt me as an honorary sister, I’d be fine with that, although I think the Browns have already adopted me.

More photos from the hike:

I don’t remember the heather being this purple.

I passed lots of charming ruins. I didn’t stop for most, but I got a quick snap of this one because of what was across the street.
