Last day

I leave tomorrow for London and the first week of my new job. Today was a day of reckoning. I haven’t worked since May -- perfect opportunity to cross things off the to-do list. But you can only get so far when there is so much competition for my attention.
Today I bought my sixth Christmas present in a week--I’m just about done. I delivered a fold-out bed to a friend who’s expecting company. I made a charitable contribution to help refugees. I got supplies for the pupster (treats and poo bags). I hauled about 10 large chunks of granite to the front yard, where my new neighbour Catherine’s father put them in his trailer. He’s going to use them to build a stone wall. I packed a small suitcase for next week and printed my boarding pass and studied how to get to the Air BnB. It was a stressful day.
David saved my bacon a few days ago because I told him I was a little worried about the “apartment” I booked through booking.com. It was very near the office and very cheap. But also above a KFC--that doesn’t seem like a great feature. David asked if I had read the reviews. I had not. The first review remarked on how the entrance is off an alley used by drug dealers serving their homeless clientele.
Soooo, not a good place to rest my head while acclimating to a new job.
In no time, David found a place on Air BnB owned by a woman who’s a writer and editor. In a quiet neighbourhood. Maybe 25 minute walk to the office. It didn’t cost much more than the KFC place. Perfect.
