I got a lift to Gortin Glen Park this morning with Patrick Yu, an immigrant from Hong Kong who came to study human rights law in Belfast in the 1990s due to the troubles here.
Our group hiked about eight miles then we camped at the Shepherds Rest campsite, on a farm about 10 miles from the park.
On the hike we encountered three horses, lots of cows:

I called this The School of Rock:

It’s actually a National School. Prior to Ireland becoming an independent country, the English government funded National Schools, which were meant to educate Anglican, Presbyterian, and Catholic children--a notion fought by the good burghers of each church, who wanted control of the little minds in their denomination.
