Tyres O'Flaherty

One more picture of the walled garden.

We returned to a marquee in the walled garden tonight to hear a conversation with the appropriately named Michael Smiley. He spent 10 years in London as a bike courier, then became a successful standup comedian, and now he is an actor in some very high profile BBC shows (he was recently on Doctor Who). He is best known as Tyres O'Flaherty on Spaced, which his roommate at the time, Simon Pegg, wrote.

He is currently in season two on BBC Ulster of Something to Ride Home About, which is about cycling around Ulster and talking to people. I really can't do justice to the event--his humor and his big heart--so I'm not even going to try.
