Tuesday travel
We took Ian and Sol to Giant's Causeway.
They were pretty impressed.
The sun kept trying to break through, but at least we didn't have rain.
We walked the loop along the water, up the hill, and back across the top field.
Then we went to Bushmill's Distillery for a tour, which was fascinating. I knew nothing of how whisky is made. For instance, that it can be aged in oak barrels that had once been used to age bourbon, or sherry, or madeira wine. The oak is porous, so the whiskey takes on the flavour of whichever cask its in. And the longer-aged whisky is dearer because of the devil's cut--the amount lost to evaporation, which rises to more than 50% over 25 years.
