The Grapes of Rath
Last night me & my fellow Rathlin hikers went out for dinner at the single pub on the island. A man was having his 70th birthday at the pub so the whole island (pop. 85) was invited. It was very festive--all the island’s children running around with their faces painted.
During the long night of conversation and football-watching (Germany v Italy), I consumed four full glasses of red wine, probably two more than I’m capable of handling responsibly. I woke up this morning and went for a long walk to try to settle my stomach and sort my head.
This photo was actually from Saturday evening near the hostel:
Sunset:
I walked to the southern tip of the island this morning hoping to get the morning light on Fairhead. It was a cloudy morning, with the sun coming out as a spotlight splash here, then there. This is the best I could do.
Later, on the way to the harbour to catch the ferry, a man got on his boat (Miss-B-Haven) with his dog. The man then jumped back onto the quay and told his dog to stay--his dog was very agitated by this arrangement.
I have nothing to say about the 45-minute ferry ride back to Ballycastle other than I would have kicked myself for drinking too much last night if I could gain my balance against the ferry’s violent pitching around in the Sea of Moyle.
