Ten in Tenerife
As in ten photos. The first is from above Tenerife as we flew in on Tuesday and saw Mt. Teide peeking through the clouds.
We had a few glitches during transport and getting settled in our room. In short, Jet2Holidays is not on top of the needs of elderly travellers. But we, and our luggage, made it.
To get to our room, we walk down a long outdoor walkway on the 4th floor on the outside of the hotel alongside a golf course (see above). Once in our room, we have balconies overlooking the pools on the inside of the hotel.
The bad news is there is a winding staircase in our room to get to the big (rooftop) balcony.
Mom: hold my beer. If she drank beer.. Here she is on the roof balcony.
Then down to the pool. When mom frowns, she is smiling on the inside. Just saying. Or maybe she's reliving going up and down that staircase.
I was meant to work half day Tuesday (travel day) and today. I wasn't able to work yesterday due to the logistics problems so catching up today. Mom reading while I sort out case studies on net-zero investing.
Below taken as we walk to the elevator, which will take us down to the restaurant. The food is good--all buffet style, lots of selection.
The only complaint is there aren't many waiters, so it's hard to get something to drink, even water.. I went walkabout after dinner and found a few shops where I got a bottle of wine and energy bars--the necessities.
We have half board--breakfast and dinner--so the necessities get us in between if we get peckish. Tomorrow I'm playing golf so this evening mom and I went down to the golf course, which has a lovely clubhouse overlooking the course, with mountains in the background. And it has birds of paradise, which are common on the island--but I wasn't sure they'd be in bloom. There are lots of things blooming--oleander, camelias, bougainvillea. So lovely to have colour in February.
