Steam trees

It rained without cease on Saturday. Sunday was sunny (see yesterday's photos). I was enthralled by the trees on my street yesterday morning. They were steaming! There was a swirl of steam radiating from and encircling each tree on the park (a tree-lined street is called a park--my street is Cherryvalley Park). The photo minimises the effect. I found it mesmerizing.

Aside from taking Paddy to the park yesterday, my big accomplishment was using Pollyfilla (in the U.S. called Great Stuff!) to spray expanding foam into the cavities above eight windows in the house. There was once masonry and concrete behind the window moulding but over time it crumbled and collapsed, leaving gaping holes above the windows. The result post polyfill is a much warmer house. Should have done that three years ago!! It would have been four years ago when I discoverd the holes--while painting the trim. But somehow I never took that job on until yesterday. I think refurbishing the house took so much out of us that we didn't lift a finger for a year or two. Slowly I've taken on the punchlist--tiling the foyer floor, removing wallpaper from three floors of hallway and repairing/painting the bare walls, landscaping the back yard. There will always be more projects, but I'm chuffed to cross this one off because of the immediate benefit.
