Sixty with Style

I have a friend from church, Sheena, who invited me to her 60th birthday party, which was tonight. I snagged a photo off of Facebook of her with her three kids.

L to R: Courtney, a symphony conductor in the U.S.; Cara, a doctor in London; Sheena; and Adam, an eye doctor also in London. Sheena is a scientist whose company focuses on male infertility. Her birthday cake had a marzipan version of her sitting on a suitcase (she travels a lot) with a rack of test tubes containing sperm samples. Both of her sons are gay and one of her son’s partners is from Italy. He is a fantastic dancer and my regret of the night was not asking him to dance.
Anyway, a fun party, good food, good band, friendly guests. Best conversation of the night was with Cara’s husband, Olie, who is a solicitor in London focused on charity law.
