Seasonal reflection

Is it possible there is a positive correlation between the number of pumpkin-flavored items in America and the percentage of people who are pumpkin shaped?

One of the things that has saddened me about Belfast is the number and size of retail establishments. There are at least two malls downtown. The fact that charity shops are bursting with clothes (which are only a fraction of those donated--the vast majority is shipped to Africa) tells me that the U.K. caught the U.S. disease of consumption. I believe U.K. economists trace it to the wide availability of credit cards, a fairly recent arrival in the U.K. Can pumpkin-flavored everything be far behind?
