Roses

My godmother's name was Rosemary Casey McMunigal. Her nickname was Roses. Just thought I'd share. The two things I most love in my garden are inherited from Hilary, the previous owner. One is an azalea, which in the spring is covered with deep pink pom poms. The other is a rose bush that blooms for months with fragrant apricot-pink blooms. I just love it.

So this weekend was disappointing in that I didn't get the upstairs lounge finished. As long as I finish by month end, it will be a year since I started. My final job involves six cans of paint. 1. Primer to cover the gray plaster patches to the cornice molding and the patched gap between the wall and skirting board. Also to cover the brown pressed board box enclosing the pipes. 2. Duck egg blue satin for the box over the pipes 3. Apple white for the section of box between the picture rail and cornice. 4. Duck egg blue matte for the section above the skirting board and other areas that got smudged during construction. 5. White gloss for the skirting board and cornice molding. 6. Daffodil white for the ceiling. And then I will be done.

I got through three colours this weekend. And I played 18 holes of golf, mopped the kitchen floor, and watered dozens of plants. The heat on Saturday set a record--in the 80s in Fahrenheit. I find the heat exhausting.
