Progress

Not doing much posting recently because work, golf and construction are all full on. The last two weeks we've had golf competitions on Tuesday and Thursday, instead of just Tuesday. I've also been editing more than 100 pages of content – in the midst of a construction site. All very tiring.

Three weekends ago, the highlight was the band Four Men and a Dog at the Belfast Trad festival--and the beautiful singer who opened for them. Last weekend the highlight was spending the day with high school buddy Julie. It was just a perfect day of being engrossed in conversation with someone I trust and love. Also went to a neighbourhood party, below with Christine and Susan, the hostess.

This weekend I don't have a highlight to report yet, it's only mid-day Saturday. I have a lot of gardening to do this weekend to complement my new patio! Which brings me to the progress report. Here's where I left off--removal of the old conservatory.

Then a deep trench was dug for the foundation and half filled with cement.

At 7:30 a.m. Monday, the beginning of week 3, bricks were delivered.

Then walls were built. The wall within the conservatory roughly divides it in half. Nearest the front of the house is a storage room, the half near the back garden will be a sunroom with sliding glass doors. The photo below also shows the foundation for the patio.

Friday morning insulation and the timbers for the roof were delivered, with the roof to be built this coming Tuesday.

I'm really pleased with the progress in just three weeks. Gary (in red jacket above) said things will slow down when we have to wait for the windows. For example, there's a 1 metre by 2 metre skylight above the hall that connects the dining room doors to the sliding glass doors at the back.

I've been out looking at wallpaper and floor tile in my spare time. So I'm able to visualise a bit what I'll be seeing from my kitchen – which has three windows that look onto the conservatory. It's all very exciting – and expensive!

In golf news, Shandon ladies had an away day in Lisburn. Lovely course, good craic, friendly weather. We'll say nothing of the golf. LOL. Here's me with friends Barb and Patricia, two very funny ladies who help keep the golfy part in perspective.
