Porthcurno to Mousehole

Today I did the longest hike, about 10 miles. I figured after a week of hiking I could handle it. We started at Minack Theatre in Porthcurno, last visited in driving rain.

With the theatre to my right, this is the view. We spent the day going up and down rocky paths along a series of headlands.

Here's today's trip description:

In Summary: Challenge yourself to this longer, rough coastal walk. We start at the beautiful white sands at Porthcurno with its backdrop of the Minack Theatre, before continuing on past Lamorna Cove to Mousehole.

Highlight: With plenty of ups and downs this isn't for the faint hearted; but the rewards are the great sea views and sense of achievement when you reach Mousehole.

I'm not sure what the little settlement above is called, but cute as all get out.

"Please believe these days will pass." Even in this idyllic  spot, people must feel the weight of the dismemberment of Ukraine.

Hiking:

A group of six, which meant we moved along smartly, which suited me. Shangri La, in the middle of nowhere:

All of a sudden, a lighthouse.

From another angle.

On the coastal throne, mistress of all I surveyed.

Lamorna Cove, where we had snacks and took photos of each other.

Another charming house.

It was an extraordinary day. Just gorgeous views the entire day, similar to yesterday, but more rugged hiking and more rock/less beach/no golf courses.

Here we are approaching Mousehole, which sounds more like Mosul Iraq than mouse + hole.

Someone said the name comes from the small size of the harbour--not confirmed. This is the view from the top of the harbour wall.

We had time for a stroll and an ice cream before getting on the bus back to St. Ives.

I can't believe this is the last hike. Every day has been amazing--even in the rain we were seeing lovely sights. Tide's out:

This was my fourth HF hiking holiday and probably the best. One in Scotland, two in Wales and now one in Cornwall. Where shall I go next year?? So many choices
