Platinum Party at the Palace
Saturday morning--dog walking at Stormont. Followed by a long walk with my friend Marek at Cairnwoods. I think my big accomplishment of the afternoon was moving summer and winter clothes around. An annoying biannual ritual.
At 6pm and 10pm I visited a neighbour's dogs to let them out. My neighbours were away at a wedding all day. Juneau and Jackson are a stunning pair of Irish setters. When they walk down the street with their shiny russet tresses, they look like runway models. Here's Jackson, however the photo doesn't do him justice:
I was tired in the evening and settled in for a three hour concert at Buckingham Palace, which was highly entertaining. The music was good (in particular, Queen, Duran Duran, Alicia Keys, Andrea Bocelli and Diversity). But what really blew me away was the light show projected onto Buckingham Palace. Different images relating to the songs being sung--and shaped to be in sync with the palace architecture. As if that weren't enough, there was a light show floating above the palace--done by drones apparently--which featured a giant corgi, a cantering horse, the queen's handbag, and a teapot pouring tea into a cup. It was amazing.
