Not having fun anymore

I've looked at 20 or 21 houses now (six today) and it isn't fun anymore. We bid on one when we got back from Portugal, 10% less than asking price, and the bid was rejected. I thought we would then be clear to bid on choice no. 2, however David talked me out of no. 2. So I went back to the drawing board and visited a lot of houses today. David visited two of them with me. Not a winner in the bunch.

I leave for the U.S. on May 23 and had hoped to have a house under contract by then. If I don't submit a successful bid in the next week, home buying will be postponed by at least a month, or however long it takes to get my visa so I can return.

Sigh. I'm tired of living in temporary quarters with two suitcases worth of clothes.

To add to my misery, I've had severe pain in my hip for the past week so have not been running. Running is always one step forward, two steps back for me. I'm thinking I need a radical change in my diet (no carbs or wheat) to give my joints a better shot at healthy functioning. This is tough b/c the U.K. is a carb-centric kind of place.
