National pastime

We are within 10 minutes of a half a dozen golf courses, so it seems a shame not to play. We went to a par 3 and played 18 holes, although I didn't technically play all of them. On the three where my tee shots were a disaster, I didn't continue playing. We didn't keep score. We didn't even count how many balls we lost. And we had a great time.
Here's what a typical hole looked like. Although this is from the big course next door, not the par 3. The skies were bright blue, the clouds either brilliant white (in the east, say) or a dramatic grey (in the west, or north?). The grass was glowingly green. How well we played didn't really matter.

We had an excellent vegetarian meal in Bangor then enjoyed a movie at home called The Hundred Foot Journey, about an Indian family that opens a restaurant in a French town where they received a chilly reception. During the movie I thought I heard fireworks. We went up to the third floor and got a great view of the Tall Ships Festival fireworks downtown. Happy Fourth of July!!
