MOTB

In the context of today's post, that stands for Mother of the Bride. This is a photo of the Climate Action 100+ team at the party. Marshall, Jasna, Kerri-Ann, me, Ben, Rosie and Livia (six nationalities represented). I feel like we look like we're at a wedding and these are my kids and their significant others.

I was sorry to leave the team becauase I'm a big fan of everyone on it. Really bright, committed, and very nice people. However I was bored by my role and am now in a better place, professionally speaking. I also like my new team. PRI does attract great people.

So I got home Saturday evening and didn't do much other than hug my dog. I could have gone to an awards ceremony at Shandon, to be presented with a trophy for the third time. One good round and three awards ceremonies (monthly award night, Lady Captain's day and the men's Captain's Day=Saturday night)! Instead I snuggled into flannel sheets and enjoyed being home.

Sunday I played 15 holes of golf on a lovely crisp afternoon before going to a Thanksgiving coffee on the street behind me. When mom was here we had dinner at the McLoughlins, where we met Gerardine and Linda, who live on the street behind me (as in perpendicular--a cul de sac that ends at my back garden). They said they'd invite me to the Thanksgiving block party and, true to their word, I was treated to pecan pie, a brownie, and hot chocolate on Sunday afternoon in Nathaniel's driveway.  There are maybe five or six people on the block who are American, hence the invite (and Nathaniel's dad is American). My office overlooks the street behind me and I'm a big fan of what I now know are three little brothers. They play games with elaborate rules that I eavesdrop on somewhat lazily. I don't need to understand the rules but I do need to know that children play outside and create their own whole universes ("You have to go AROUND the tree before you can pick up the ball!!!!"). Their mom is from Pennsylvania/Prince Edward Island. Their dad is from here. Gerardine (a Derry girl) and Linda are the kind of people who make things happen--like birthday parties for neighbourhood kids, and making sure elderly people have meals delivered. Two families are isolating due to Covid, and they got deliveries of desserts. Actually, they are just like Marian McLoughlin, who is a rock in this neighbourhood.
