More Tolleymore
Last year when my friend Kyle visited, we hiked at Tolleymore Forest. David hadn’t been, so we went today, hiking about eight miles. I liked two sections--the parts in the forest and at the edge of the forest where you see the Mournes.
I wasn’t as keen on the sections where they harvest wood. This isn’t uncommon in Ulster--I guess a way to make the land “productive.” I just dislike monocultures and planted evergreen forests are so dead--no birds or understory of any kind. Here someone placed some wreaths on a clear cut area where new seedlings had been planted.
