Lollygagging on the Lagan

The Lagan River flows through Belfast to the lough. There's a towpath along sections of it and a beautiful trail that makes you feel you are far away from anything manmade. We hiked a few miles along it from Stranmillis--near where we've made the offer on a house, to Shaw's Bridge. I'm afraid I didn't bring my camera so I am stuck with my insufficient vocabulary. The height of the oaks and the width of their trunks were a sight to see, the wall of green on either side of the river, the Lock keeper's Inn, where you stop for tea and scones--all of it made for a perfect outing.

The path goes all the way to Lisburn, 12 miles away, so we'll do it by bike another time.
