Let’s Rock!
After Thursday night's prize giving, I went into town on Friday night with Fiona and Valerie for cocktails and dinner. That was a lot of fun. I aim to get out for dinner on Friday nights, after a week of work and making my own meals 3X/day. Fiona responded to my call to join me and the three of us had a great old time.
Saturday I went to a music festival from noon to midnight with 22 neighbours. We went in a rented bus, so drink (and parking) was not an issue. Fiona very kindly watched Paddy for me.
According to the paper, there were 12,000 people there. Music highlights included Adam and the Ants (Goody Two Shoes), Belinda Carlisle, Sister Sledge and Heaven 17 (Fascist Groove Thing). I have never been drawn by things like Glastonbury as I find it all overwhelming. However, this was a lot of fun. I danced a lot and really enjoyed people watching. So many people dressed as 80s characters--Freddie Mercury, Prince, Madonna– and lots of people in Frankie Goes to Hollywood- and Wham-related tee shirts. One woman dressed as a Rubik's cube. One guy was Beetlejuice. Something for everyone. The atmosphere was just festive--everyone having a good time.
I spent Sunday gardening. I have become tired of my uniform, U shaped border garden. I bought a pair of granite spheres, with the idea I would create an hour glass shape to the border. You can see the beginning of the below.
I have also bought a cast iron bench, delivered recently, and an arch. Thea came by on Sunday to advise me on how to bring these elements together. She also gifted me a bridal veil bush and large clumps of yellow and white daisies, all of which I dug up from her garden. It took Sunday and Monday for me to get everything in the ground. We are in a heat wave and a very dry spell, so I have my work cut out for me keeping everything alive.
