Les Mis
I bought my ticket for the Ferryman online and found that being in the nosebleeds hampered my enjoyment--I found it hard to hear. When I was at the play, I asked a gay couple next to me what the best way is to get discounted last minute tickets. There are kiosks everywhere selling discounted tickets, but I’m not sure if they’re a good deal or not. They said go to the theatre and ask about returned tickets, which the theatre resells. Here’s the Gielgud Theatre, btw:
I was free this evening so I decided to try to see Les Mis. I went to the ticket window and asked about getting a single ticket. He sold me a ticket for 60 pounds (usually 80 pounds) in the THIRD row.
It was pretty awesome. An Irishman named Killian Donnelly played Valjean and he was brilliant. The woman playing Fontine had a gorgeous voice. I had some issues understanding the lyrics when there was an ensemble singing. The biggest disappointment was the thief couple--no one could beat Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen. Here’s the ceiling of the theatre:
