I watched a BBC show tonight about how young women are chasing the Kim Kardashian look. This means having silicone injected into your lips and fat taken off your waist and inserted into your butt. They showed a woman’s heavily tattooed bum cut open and the surgeon filling it with something.
I do despair for my gender at times.
The show confirmed my suspicion that the heavy makeup look with strange eyebrows and what I learned is called “contouring” is also down to Kim K. One of the drivers for all this madness? Looking good on Instagram and in selfies.
If only I had the talent, the patience, the focus, the discipline... I’d write a book that is an allegory for the times we live in, for the fate of the planet we have sealed as we lather ourselves with fake tan and drive SUVs and live lives divorced from the essence of being human.
