The morning after the awards, I go to a hotel for breakfast before the hour-long drive home. The hotel was hosting the all Ulster competition for traditional dance. At my Air BnB I met one of the competitors and her mum. Who informed me that:

Her daughter has to have a fake tan because she dances with a group

The girls are marked on their make up, and

They have to wear tall hair pieces--despite her daughter having luxurious long brown hair.

These girls are all under age 13. These trends are down to the influence of the Americans of course. So I walk into the hotel restaurant and see a lot of Jon Benet Ramsays being chased around by moms and dads with cans of hair spray and garment bags. I spun on my heel and left, driving back to Belfast with no breakfast. Somehow lost my appetite.
