Imitation Game

With Benedict Cumberbatch. Wonderful film but very sad as well. I tried to figure out if he would have done any better in the U.S. military, however the U.S. military brass is so homophobic I doubt he would have had a chance to serve. His work solving the German Enigma code is said to have ended WWII two years early and saved 14 million lives. But not his own.

The most interesting aspect of the film was realizing the moral dilemmas Britain faced once it cracked the code. Use the now-decoded information to save every targeted ship and city and the Germans know you've cracked the code. Don't let the Germans know Enigma is solved means letting people die when you could have saved them. What a horrible power for the code breakers to wield.
