House hunting headaches

We made an offer last week on a house that a gay couple has owned for 20 years. It is in impeccable condition and would need no additional work. The price was very high for the neighborhood. We offered what we thought was fair (and affordable to us), and this morning they declined the offer.

I thought our next step would be to bid on choice two at a price that the estate agent had already told me was acceptable to the sellers. David got cold feet over concerns that the property could be too noisy because it is near Bangor town center. There was a low-ball offer on that property and the sellers accepted it this morning.

So choices one and two are out. The owners of choice three have dropped their price so we are going to look at it on Thursday. I'm also going to look at four other houses on Thursday because I've slacked off in recent weeks and I need to keep surfacing possibilities, one of which we need to nail down. This is a long and tiresome process. We spent hours debating the pros and cons of properties 1 and 2. I was hoping we'd end up with one of them but so it goes.
