Honest work

I worked Monday through Wednesday for Preventable Surprises and spent most of Thursday and Friday reporting and writing an article for ESG Magazine in London, while also editing a few pieces for Preventable Surprises.

In other words, I worked a full week. The last time I did that--nearly eight hours in the chair every day for five days, was when I worked on my dissertation last fall. I have found it quite a struggle to maintain focus for hours at a time. I’m used to looking at Facebook regularly, doing various chores around the house, visiting neighbours, going to the grocery store. It was a real shock to my system to stay on task for so long day after day. As Elvis Costello sang: "Welcome to the working week. I know it don’t thrill you I hope it don’t kill you."
