Homeless

For a variety of reasons, we didn't pursue buying the Queens Parade townhouse on the marina in Bangor. One factor is the pound-dollar exchange rate, which has been going against us for months, making our proposed purchase much more expensive.

And so I am back in the real estate game and not loving it. I looked at two fixer uppers this week and couldn't get out fast enough. I don't mind a bit of work but if the floor plan is dead wrong (i.e. each room too small to amount to anything), we'd be living in a construction zone for months, which doesn't further my aim of reclaiming our goods in storage and settling in before winter.

I'm sure there's a silver lining somewhere. For instance, I'm starting to look at Belfast instead. It's kind of like do you want to live in Philly or West Chester? Do you want to live where you work and have access to all kinds of cultural activities? Or live away from the big city and be close to the ocean and beautiful places to run and walk? There's certainly more selection and variety in Belfast. We shall see.
