Today we hiked in Kilbroney Forest, which borders the Mournes on the south side, not the north side, where Newcastle is. To our south is Carlingford Lough, with the Republic on the other side of the water. To our east is the Irish sea.

From this vantage point you get a peak at the Republic across Carlingford Lough.

Here, Colleen, myself, and Maysie pose next to the high point, with Warrenpoint in the background.

We had an incredibly beautiful sunny day, with the occasional wisps of mist for some atmospherics.

Where Carlingford Lough empties into the Irish Sea.

Ditto.

You can't hike without sheep.

The whole hike was just lovely.

We had tea afterward in the cafe--just the five of us on the hike. The heavens opened while we had our tea and cakes. By the time we were done, the sun was out again.
