"He has time for people"
When we walked the coastal path on Saturday, we met up with Noel and his dog Tilly. He told me about a TV celebrity who was in Greyabbey recently filming "Bargain Hunters." Two couples go to antique shops and hunt for bargains then the things they buy are sold at auction. The couple with the highest profit wins. Mom and I were at Ross's Auctions they day this celebrity filmed his pre-auction interview with the auctioneer, who gave his estimate of the value of each "bargain." The auction was the next day.
Long story short, Noel's assessment of this TV personality is that he has time for people. He signed autographs, chatted with bystanders, was generous to Noel's son, who runs a cafe in Greyabbey. That reminded me of the phrases I've heard: "I have time for him" or "I don't have time for her." It is interesting how time is the measure of the man, so to speak. You either want to spend time with someone or you don't. You either have time for people or you don't. It's an interesting form of compliment.
