Goofing
Last night six women who took lessons with Michael, the pro at Belvoir Golf Club, played one hole with him. I had missed the first two classes in a six-week session so a lot of the “refresher” was new to me, particularly on putting.
So today I played with two women from the class. The rule for beginners is you have to quit after 60 shots, even if you haven’t played nine holes. The sad thing is, that got me through seven holes, even with “Michael’s rules”--if your ball is under a tree, move it (and don’t count the stroke). If you aren’t out of the bunker in two shots, throw your ball out (and don’t count a stroke). If you don’t like your tee shot, do it again (and don’t count it). He encourages us to tee up the ball in the fairway and practice with our woods. You’d think with the loose rules I could get beyond the seventh hole, but not so.
The course is absolutely gorgeous. I’ll bring a camera another time.
