Full on
I’m working full-time for Preventable Surprises right now, which is stressing me out because so many other projects are on hold (I book up my evenings partly to get out of the house after working there all day). I don’t have time to:
- Look for a job
- Finish my photo collage
- Finish painting trim in the hallway
- Keep up with this blog or my email box (I’m writing a week behind)
- Plan mom’s vacation
- Trim the hedges.
- Visit a friend in a nursing home.
Good news is, I love my little office. David made a pass at redecorating the office a year and a half ago. Here’s how David rolls:
He was proud of spending 100 pounds on decorating:
And here is how I roll:
I spent 100 pounds just on wallpaper. Like my new desk? On the front of the drawers are pulls with labels that you would see in a library.
What I love about this room is all the things that are very dear to me, all mementos of people I love. There’s a plate from Mrs. Morris and a horse print from Mrs. Curran, both neighbours in Chester, Va., where I lived from age 8 to age 12. There’s a map of Ireland I took with me when I hitched around Ireland at age 18. There’s a photo of mom and Aunt Rosemary, my favourite aunt. I have a cross stitch from my mom (of a poem by Yeats). Pride of place for a print of Queen’s University. Each of my diplomas is accompanied by a graduation photo.
I’m pretty pleased with how my study turned out. Being in a small room surrounded by your favourite books and reminders of people you love is just what I wanted.
