Flight dismay

My main goal today was to book a trip to London the week after next for work and book a trip from West Virginia to Florida in February during my visit to my mom.

I think I spent over an hour on this and got only one flight booked. When I set up a London flight, I am given about a dozen options to three airports (Gatwick, Stanstead, Luton), i.e. 36 flights to choose from in each direction. To get the best price, I might not travel at the ideal time. For this trip, I will fly into Stanstead and fly out of Luton. My Luton flight leaves at 7 a.m. so I have to make sure I can get there in time from Kentish Town. I’ll be up around 4:30 a.m., but whatever.

So, Florida. My choices for mom and I are $600 RT on Southwest or $220 RT on Spirit Airlines. But bags are free on Southwest and you pay on Spirit. Here are the payment options.

FFS. There are other pages describing the size and weight limitations of carry on vs. checked. Like I know what size/weight mom’s bag will be in February so I can prebook now. And I pay $100 if I get it wrong. Sigh. I did some research on whether Spirit was a decent airline and did not get good feedback. I basically advised mom that we should go for Southwest.

I personally would rather pay more for an airline that treats its personnel better than use the RyanAir model where everyone is a contingent worker getting paid shite.
