Fay’s Folly

My neighbour Fay very kindly clipped a newspaper ad placed by the Human Rights Commission in Northern Ireland, which has four positions open. Given that my degree is in human rights and given that I want to be involved in an organisation working on justice issues, this seemed like a real find. Then I read the 12-page job descriptions and the 14-page applications. Here are just three of the questions for which I do not have appropriate answers:

Criterion 1: Knowledge – Human rights (do not exceed 500 words)
Please demonstrate the extent of your experience and working knowledge of applying human rights law applies in Northern Ireland and internationally:

Criterion 2: Knowledge – Political Structures (do not exceed 500 words)
Please demonstrate the extent of your experience in engaging with and your knowledge of the Northern Ireland government and political structures:

Criterion 3: Knowledge – Legislative processes (do not exceed 500 words)
Please demonstrate the extent of your experience and working knowledge of legislative processes in the Westminster Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly:

Sigh. This is why I spend a lot of time on Facebook.
