Delay

I was supposed to be flying home today, Friday March 2. However, we learned that my Uncle Bill, 90, is in hospice with not long to live. I decided to delay my trip home so I can attend his funeral, and be mom’s chauffeur from W.Va. to N.J. and back. My uncle always called me “Kak,” short for Kaki. No one else called me that and I can hear his voice saying that so clearly. He was always a positive, cheery, funny guy and a doting husband. He fell in love with Aunt Dana in high school--she was his one and only. He’s struggled since she died a few years ago.

I missed her funeral when I was in Portugal and his sister’s funeral when I was in Zurich. Since I’m in the U.S., I want to make this one. Here’s a photo of Uncle Bill and Aunt Dana at my wedding:
