Box ticking
I have been ticking a lot of boxes lately. The things that are always on the long finger are suddenly getting done. It's exhilarating. In the past week, I have been to a dermatologist to discuss rosacea; I have bought a mattress to replace my 25-year-old model; I have had a one-hour session with a personal trainer to address my declining strength – accelerated during my bike accident recovery; and I have hired someone to paint my windowsills. I also had a putting lesson with Geoff yesterday, addressing the weakest part of my game. I had a young couple over for dinner last night who will watch my dogs while I go to America in August. And tonight, I'm going to a daytime disco. It's really hard to get tickets to and I got one months ago. It's from 5-9 pm tonight. I'm really excited about this. Mid-life pleasures.
I find for me to be productive, I need a stretch of time when I'm not travelling and I have no visitors. i.e. I need to be caught up on laundry, gardens and house cleaning before I can tackle anything on the list. Walking dogs, playing golf and work mean it's hard to get beyond the list of basic chores.

How gorgeous is Daphne? I am besotted with her. She ate a whole loaf of sourdough bread yesterday – snatched off the dining room table while I was playing golf. This morning I had to clean up the aftermath. I hardly mind.
Next BIG item on the list is doing my taxes for 2024 and figuring out how to file 2023 taxes that were due last October. I hired a US-based accountant to do those and apparently he couldn't be arsed. Once I've ticked those two boxes, only 18 more items on the list!
