I worked today (Weds) so mom got to spend some quality time in the upstairs sitting room. She had a good lie in--more than 12 hours. She said it took her a long time to fall asleep b/c she was so cold. Poor thing. But she's back to full strength today. She is amazing. I served her breakfast upstairs, cutting out the number of stairs she had to face this morning.
As I worked on this room, I thought of how much she would enjoy it. The view of trees on three sides of the bay window in a small way replicates her second-level screened-in porch in West Virginia, which is surrounded by trees. It's where she spends most of her time in good weather. I also expected she would bond with the felted wool blanket from the Aran Isles. I think it's warm in the house but it's hard for mom to feel warm (she probably still feels the wind from the golf course).
It was a sunny day so I had to edit these photos to make her less dark (i.e. a lot of sun coming through the windows, putting her in shade). My friend Louise loaned me a Kindle for mom to use, so she is enjoying the book Toast by food critic/writer/TV personality Nigel Slater. Our book club read it last week.
After work, mom and I ran two quick errands and, as we were out anyway, had dinner at The Poet, a nearby restaurant. We capped our day by watching the second half of The Great British Sewing Bee (she had begun watching it earlier) and the first episode of this year's Great British Bake Off.
