Back to the garden

Today I helped a neighbor remove a honeysuckle tree and I transplanted some lamium from her garden to my mom's. Later, mom and I went to a nursery and bought five large mountain laurels, which I will be planting along the back of the house.

Mom's subdivision was built on a steep hill and most of the foundations have subsided. Like many in the 'hood, mom has had to have her house jacked up and the foundation rebuilt. Hence the 26-foot-long strip of red clay behind the house that needs landscaping. I'm excited about getting my hands dirty.
