Back to Belfast

As I leave Buncrana headed to Derry, my view is of Lisfannon Beach.

My first stop was An Grianan, a hotel near Grianan of Aileach, of which Wiki says:
a group of historic structures atop a 244 metres (801 ft) hill in County Donegal, Ireland. The main structure is a stone ringfort, thought to have been built by the Uí Néill in the sixth or seventh century. It has been identified as the seat of the Kingdom of Ailech and one of the royal sites of Gaelic Ireland. The wall is about 4.5 metres (15 ft) thick and 5 metres (16 ft) high.

So my goal was to find a painting of Grianan to give as a wedding present to my nephew and his fiancé. At the hotel, I was directed to a gallery in Derry, which became my next stop. I first visited the craft village, where there was a nice yarn bombed bike.

I took this photo of McCartney and Casey Solicitors, the building just outside the city walls.

In this photo the solicitor building is up the hill on the right while the craft village is on the left.

It's so interesting to explore Derry now. Back when I was a teenager, there were entire areas that were off limits, either because of the military or because they were just unsafe. I've never seen this street before, for example.

I bought my painting then drove back to Belfast, where I met David at Botanic Gardens, which was hosting the Autumn Harvest fair.

I took loads of photos, which I will include in future posts.
