Back in the fold
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday:
Lots of org charts. Learning my way around the structure and the many initiatives underway at the PRI. Same for ClimateAction100+. I’m trying to get my head around two large, complex organisations.
I’m impressed by all the young people I’m meeting, and they are young. They are so well informed, so committed, so charming. Very international--British, Australian, Greek, Brazilian, Norwegian, Indian.
I met with HR and covered a lot of ground, met with IT to set up my new laptop, met with the guy who runs PRI Academy, where I need to take a course, met with the head of PR. I met with my manager who went over Skype for Business, the client collaboration platform, the client relationship management database, the webinar platform--lots of this going over my head.
Every night I would get take-out on the way home and eat in my Air BnB bedroom. I’d get in bed and look at stuff on my computer then go to sleep--absolutely exhausted.
Yes it was tiring and demanding. But also inspiring and exciting. It may sound pathetic but I like having a lanyard and being part of an organisation again. It’s hard to accomplish anything on your own or as part of a dysfunctional charity--my last job. It’s exciting to be part of a group that is very plugged in with what’s happening on palm oil, plastics, emissions, and so on. One of the teams is just back from Asia, where it took a group of large investors on a tour of palm oil plantations. Another team just back from Paris, where UNEP FI was meeting. A few people going to Poland for the COP meeting.
Plus, the break room is full of fruit!!
