All our worldly possessions
Came in this truck:
Went through this door (note that I rolled out the carpet):
Through our lovely living room and dining room:
And into the conservatory, the only room in the house not under construction:
A few dozen boxes went into a crawl space, and 4-6 big items went into each of four rooms, leaving space for the plasterer and electrician to get around to do their thing. None of the rooms is finished, so the move has been tricky.
So the team is pictured above, but hard to see. They have been busting their humps for the past two weeks to get as far along as possible, but there's just too much to do. Ian and Ivan were on the roof and doing the finish around the conservatory windows today. David the plasterer went from room to room finishing walls, ceilings, and mouldings. Marshall and Samuel hung doors, fixed floors, and did various joinery work. Barry the plumber installed the boiler (which heats the water which heats the house). I ran up and down stairs for two hours helping the three movers carry stuff and telling them where to put stuff. We sent two golf club bags and two bikes to the neighbor's.
The sad thing about the move is this: Once the guys are done, in maybe two weeks, David and I will move in and the real fun will begin. Stripping wall paper, spackling and painting walls, sanding floors, staining and sealing floors. We will be living in a construction zone for months to come. Free room and board to anyone who likes chaos and hard work and is detail oriented.
After the move, we had tea with our neighbor Marshall then I went to Queen's. After two days of cleaning and today's move, we are wiped out.
