Adeus Porto

Dara's flight left earlier than mine so I went walkabout on another fine morning.

The city hall above sits at the top of a long hill bracketed by stately buildings.

Yesterday and today I enjoyed hot chocolate and pastries in two of the 100s of cafes along the streets. I don't know how they make the hot chocolate but it is frothy and rich. Unfortunately served in a small cup, when I could drink a gallon of it.

I saw this church as I made my way to Bolhão train station, having already been through Bolhão market for I think the fourth time. I paid only 2.65 euro to travel a half hour to the airport, what a deal. I think Dara paid nearly 30 euro for a taxi doing the same trip. However she had a humongous piece of luggage that you wouldn't want to haul in an out of the metro station.

I was really glad to have stretched my legs before the long trip home. The only sad bit about the trip was they took my Douro Valley red wine vinegar off me. I forgot that when you carry your bags on, as I did, you can't take anything larger than a thimble. I'm glad I didn't buy the port, which was more expensive.

At the end of my travels was one very happy springer spaniel. Four people involved in his care over the past week. He was surprised and delighted to see me come through the door.
