A Wall of Worry

Bit closer up:

This project involved five trips to the Boucher Road retail complex, half hour away; three trips to B&Q hardware, 15 minutes away; two trips to HomeBase, 15 minutes away.
Simon recommended I get a bullnose tile for the top, two rows of pencil tiles, and a mosaic in between. I had a hard time finding anything that would do as a mosaic, but I did find lovely marble for the base. I bought two rows of bullnose, thinking I might do a band at the top rather than bullnose and a band further down with two pencil rows. I scotched that and used one row of bullnose at top, no decorative band, and another row of bullnose between the subway tile and the marble. It is possible I have recounted all of this already. If so I apologise. I just fussed over it for days--wanting to go for a bit of decorative flourish and then deciding that the space was too small--keep it simple. But much product bought and returned as alternatives explored.
It has taken years to get this done and now I see why!
